Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, The University of Texas at Austin’s Post

Thanks to ASE alumna Melanie Weber (B.S. ASE 2004) we now have new space memorabilia hanging in the reception area of the ASE Administrative Offices! Weber, a spacecraft design engineer at Boeing, donated this Texas pennant on Oct 1, 2022. The flag was flown to the International Space Station aboard Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner on May 22, 2022 during an uncrewed flight test that is paving the way for crewed flights.   Weber leads the Boeing CST-100 Starliner subsystem for Crew and Cargo Accommodations. She became the first woman and first Hispanic person to lead a Launch Pad Team on the day of launch of a spacecraft in 2019. She was granted a patent for the design of the Crew Seat for the Starliner and has co-authored several technical papers for the AIAA. She also takes an active role in STEM outreach and was honored as a 2020 Outstanding Young Texas Ex. We’re proud to call you a Texas ASE/EM alumna, Melanie!
