A Plan for Every Longhorn: Estate and Tax Planning Panel

The University of Texas at Austin's Gift and Estate Planning team invites you to attend a complimentary webinar on Friday, May 29, noon - 1 p.m. CDT. Our three expert panelists will walk you through what you need to consider in your estate planning, tax planning and charitable giving during these challenging times. The discussion will explore basic estate planning documents, new rules in Texas regarding executing legal documents and the recently passed SECURE and CARES acts. Our hope is every Longhorn will develop a smart plan to meet their financial, family and philanthropic goals both now and into the future.

Meet the Panelists

Stephen Saunders is board certified in estate planning and probate law and is a founding partner of Saunders, Norval, Pargaman & Atkins. He is a course director and a frequent speaker at State Bar seminars in the estate planning and probate area. His practice is dedicated to estate planning and probate work, with a focus on charitable planning with family foundations and community foundations. Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts in history with honors and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin.
Steve Shook is a practicing CPA and principal at ProActive Finance Group, LLC. He is responsible for coordinating tax matters and family home office services and plays a significant role in the due diligence and structuring of financing and merger and acquisition transactions. He has extensive experience in working with high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses and private equity groups. Steve also received a BBA and MPA in taxation from The University of Texas at Austin.
Laura Hansen Dean, JD, graduated magna cum laude from Indiana University School of Law and has 41 years of experience in charitable gift planning. A member of the state bar in both Texas and Indiana, she led the Gift and Estate Planning team at UT Austin during the We’re Texas campaign from 2007-2014. In October 2017, she returned to UT Austin as senior director of Gift Design and Documentation. She was inducted into the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners National Hall of Fame in 2018 and has assisted with charitable gifts that total more than $1 billion.
