UIL Academic Meet Directors, Coordinators, Coaches:
Thank you for your patience as we work to navigate this ever-changing and unprecedented situation. As the situation stands, all UIL contests are suspended through March 29 due to COVID-19. As new information is released, we will continue to make informed decisions and provide amended plans as we have them.
We have received several questions concerning rehearsals and practices. At this time, all rehearsals and practices conducted outside the school day are postponed through March 29. This means that no rehearsals or practices outside the school day can be conducted during the time period of March 16 through March 29.
At this time, we are working with the dates and deadlines that were sent Friday and listed below. We will work to be fluid with the certification dates for one-act play as much as possible, particularly for districts not returning until April 6. Please refer to uiltexas.org/covid-19-information for the latest information.
District Academic and Speech
District Academic Meets, originally scheduled March 23-28, may now be held March 30-April 11. This includes speaking events. Entry deadlines may be adjusted as needed. We ask that schools and local District Executive Committees work collaboratively and reasonably with one another in rescheduling district competitions.
Note: Sunday competitions are allowed.
· One-Act Play District/Bi-District certification deadline, originally scheduled March 26, has been extended to April 7.
· One-Act Play Area certification deadline, originally scheduled for April 4, has been extended to April 14.
We ask that schools and local District Executive Committees work collaboratively and reasonably with one another in rescheduling district and bi-district one-act play. Area one-act play will be scheduled based on host site availability and will be communicated via the UIL website.
As this is a rapidly changing situation, please look for future correspondence from UIL.
